A Call for Artists

The Arts Committee at the New Deal is expanding its art program and is looking for help from local Greenbelters. The committee, headed by coordinator Kristin Stenson, is looking for people both to join the committee as well as for volunteers who can help with individual events.

There are three positions to be filled on the committee itself. Those considered for membership will need to be Greenbelt artists with enough time to devote to hanging art as well as any other tasks needed to successfully put up monthly shows. The committee is looking for the following skills in new members.

• general carpentry (hanging pictures, fixing walls, etc)
• marketing (someone to be the liaison between the Arts and Marketing Committees)
• general knowledge of the execution of art exhibits and gallery practices

Those not on the committee but who would like to help are encouraged to volunteer, especially if they have any of the above skills they would like to contribute on an as needed basis. All support is greatly appreciated.

The Arts Committee currently oversees hanging monthly shows in the cafe, as well as organizing auctions and involving the community through arranging artists' openings and providing press release assistance to featured artists.
